What are the Uses of Ranitidine Tablets?

Ranitidine tablets are one of the medicines that are always present in our house. I felt intrigued about what the major ranitidine tablet uses are and why they are always stored in our home. In India, I can assure you that many of us have faced issues related to bloating, constipation, and even acidity. These tablets are consumed when such problems usually arise.

So, let me break down everything one by one regarding the use of such tablets and why they are especially useful.

What is a Ranitidine Tablet?

The first step to understanding ranitidine tablet uses is to ensure we get a brief idea about where it is basically used. Ranitidine, as per my research, falls under the Histamine A2 blocker, which is helpful to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The tablets are commonly used for treating conditions like:

  1. Acidity and Heartburn
  2. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or GERD
  3. Stomach and Intestinal Ulcers
  4. Indigestion, which is caused by excessive acid production

So, in my findings, the tablet is primarily used to reduce the production of stomach acids and provide relief. But I asked myself, is it safe for me to use the tablet daily? The answer is a big NO!

This raises a question: lakhs of Indians are taking spicy foods, not following a proper sleep schedule, and tiringly working every day, taking these kinds of tablets. Are they going to face some serious issues in the later stages of their lives? Probably yes, as they are regularly causing problems in their own body by blocking the natural process.

What Does Ayurveda Suggest?

My research took me to a website that answered everything that I needed to know about the tablets and their uses. Ask Ayurveda, one of the best portals for answering questions related to your body and ideating a way to use Ayurveda for solving complex problems using traditional knowledge.

So, I am going to use their response to answer the ways Ayurveda suggests to mitigate problems related to stomach issues and acidity:

  1. Cooling foods (alkaline in nature) must be included in your diet, as Ayurveda sees acidity as pitta dosha, specifically amla pitta. Having Amla Juice, soaked coriander seed water, and licorice (Yashtimadhu) can help in pacifying the aggravated pitta dosha.
  2. Avoid cold milk, milk tea, and milk coffee as they are known to aggravate the pitta dosha and increase the chances of acidity. As you already know, most of us like milk tea, but that needs to be stopped as it can aggravate the dosha.
  3. Taking Ayurvedic proprietary medicine like Avipattikar churna, Shatavari powder, and Hingwashtak churna can reduce bloating, trap gas, and cool the stomach. They also improve digestion and support hormonal balance, as stress can also cause problems with digestion.
  4. Lifestyle changes and stress-alleviating treatments like Shirodhara therapy, abhyanga, meditation, and pranayama, which help improve digestion.

Final Thoughts

In short, I would like to address that Ranitidine tablets are known to be an option for providing quick relief. However, it does not intend to solve the complex processes in the body or the root of the symptoms.

Ayurveda does not work on a surface level; it works deep within to make sure that everything is solved using traditional medicinal knowledge and, most importantly, without any side effects.
